There is a vast global movement for enviromental change and that movement is made up of local groups uniting with other local groups to work together. I am not familiar with the international groups but in the USA i would highly recommend checking out the following websites; NDRC, Sierra Club, Earth Justice, and Audubon. E the Enviromental Magazine is also a great resource.
If you want a day of non-consumption than perhaps you could organize one; start small, the local school, your neighborhood etc. Community organzing is a powerful means of education and change but it takes time and energy
The most beneficial thing I think anyone can do is encourage people in their immediate circles to live as 'green,' as possible and to point out ways they can actually do it. Reply to this
